About New Edge Renovation

New Edge is family owned and operated company. It was founded by Father and Son team, Richard and Kody Smith. Richard had his son working with him at a very young age. Over the years they worked on and off again together at a couple different companies. Eventually they both felt it was time to start their own company together. They say its never easy working with family, however this working relationship has always come natural. Its simple, at the end of the day, both Richard and Kody care about their clients. The two things that matter most at New Edge that will never change is customer service and craftsmanship and we guarantee that those two items will always be held at the highest of standards.

Kody, thanks to his dad, started working at a very young age. It started with working with his dad on weekends and school breaks. When he was 16, he supervised his first roofing and paint job. He went on to work for Buckhaven Construction as an on-site superintendent. After a few years there he moved on to Miller Construction where was the lead project manager and estimator for almost 2 years. It was at that point that he and his father felt the nudge to create New Edge Renovation.

"I have always had a knack for anything construction related. It seemed like no matter what path I tried to take, construction always pulled me back in which I'm super thankful for. I know I am doing exactly what I am meant to do because everyday that I wake up, I'm excited to get the ball rolling on whatever project we have rolling at the time. Its so much fun to see a space, visualize what I want it to look like, and watch it transform. One of my favorite parts about my job is working with people. We treat people like they are part of our own family." - Kody Smith

Ricky was working and on his own at very young age. Very quickly, he grew to be an extremely hard worker. His hard work did not go unnoticed by his employers. He went into to the decorative concrete business where he worked as the lead man for Concrete Coatings. After a few years there he transitioned to Precision where he was the Superintendent of the Architectural Division. In, 2007 Ricky started his own Decorative Concrete Design company which did extremely well for a little over a year. In an unfortunate event, Ricky broke his collar bone leaving him un able to work. After he reached out to a previous client, he worked as a supervisor for a company which later developed into Buckhaven Construction. 10 years later he accepted a job at South Core Construction. Not too long after, an opportunity was presented to join his son Kody over at Miller Construction as the Vice President. At that point, the same nudge that Kody felt, had nudged Ricky and the rest was history.

"I have always worked as long as I can remember. Everyone always knew me by that guy they could come to when they had a job they needed done and needed done right. I saw a lot of myself in my son and we shared that same work ethic. We have always had a great relationship and worked extremely well together. When we decided that we wanted to start our own company, I had no doubt in my mind that we could do it, even though at the time it seemed crazy to leave good steady jobs. Steve Harvey said it best, you will never know unless you just jump, and I cant thank God enough that we did." - Richard Smith
